On Sunday, April 1 the Washtenaw Food Hub will host an Open House to help kick off the Local Food Summit on Monday, April 2. To get ready for all the upcoming activity, the Washtenaw Food Hub will host an outdoor clean-up work day on Saturday, March 31. Details of the work day and the Open House are below. We hope to see you there!

We need to get the grounds tidied up and we’re hoping you can help.  Our first Food Hub Work Day (and snack potluck) will be Saturday, March 31 from 1:00-3:00 pm.   This should be something fun for the whole family with lots of activities anyone can do.  We’ll work for a couple of hours, and then break for a little snack picnic/potluck when we can share more about what else has been going on behind the scenes. A few of the tasks that need to be done:

  • Pick up sticks
  • Rake the lawn
  • Weed the gardens around the house
  • Dig up thistles- Rake and put out wood chips
Time: Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 1:00-3:00 pm

Bring: Tools, hat, gloves, water, rain gear, snack to share

The Washtenaw Food HubTilian Farm Development Center, and Food Gatherers will be hosting open houses, free and open to the public, from 1:00-3:00pm, on Sunday, April 1st.  Come and learn about innovation in food and agriculture in Washtenaw County,  and these examples which developed thanks to the foresight and effort of Ann Arbor Township in preserving farmland and open space.
