The Washtenaw Food Hub also benefits our Farm to School programs as it provides farmers from across the region with a central aggregation point to come together and distribute out to schools. This allows school food service directors with limited time the opportunity to purchase from multiple farmers, thus expanding the array of locally grown food they can offer students.”

As the local food movement reawakens, and consumer demand for sustainable, local foods increase, we need a hub to be able to aggregate, store, and deliver these products to our local community. In our work in Ann Arbor (and nationally), we constantly run into chefs who would like to source locally and sustainably, but find it to be both cost prohibitive and too time consuming. We believe the Washtenaw Food Hub could alleviate both these problems.”
